Our history

The Maria Chocolate brand was born in 2013, fruit of the Monteiro Family’s love for chocolate. They are chocolates created by delicate and dedicated hands to sweeten people’s lives.

Our mission is to offer our customers the magic resulting from artisanal work, letting everyone know the formula of pleasure, with the special touch of our recipes.

We strive so that every day the world of Maria Chocolate reaches as many people as possible, giving them the opportunity to get to know and try our delicious products.

As a brand committed to quality and transparency, we seek to embrace projects and partnerships that, we believe, not only add value to our brand but also bring direct gains to our customers.

Therefore, our work brings the love for chocolate and the pleasure of being part of special moments and the creation of good memories through our flavours.

Our Artisanal Productive Unit

Our factory is certified as an artisanal production unit by IEFP, following the criteria and rules of food safety implemented by a HACCP system.

The focus of the company is on innovating to surprise our customers, delivering a product with Maria Chocolate quality. We make technology our ally, in order to facilitate the processes, but never losing the company’s trademark, of which we are proud, which is the handmade production of our chocolate

The space also has our showroom thought out and planned in order to provide our customers and visitors with a delicious experience in the Maria Chocolate World.

Fernando Monteiro - Chocolate Chef

Born in Porto, Fernando Monteiro has always been passionate about cooking and found in chocolate the means to express this passion.

The year 2013 was decisive to make chocolate more than his passion, it was the transition of his career. He specialised in haute chocolatierie at some of the most renowned schools in the segment, Chocolate Academy, in Belgium and Spain.

His focus is to combine the class of chocolate with the best that Portugal as to offer, for this reason he makes a point of valuing the products of Portuguese origin, highlighting the partnership with small producers.

His work is driven by the constant challenge to innovate through the delicacy of the artisanal process providing a unique experience with the creation of the flavours of his chocolates.
